Sue Burrus

An artist and educator, Sue Burrus believes that accurate, concise illustrations complement words.  Her goal is to produce images that provide opportunities for viewers to see a structure, or a process of nature in a new light. She has worked as a teacher, social worker, and journalist, and finds each career path provides connections with illustration projects.

Sue is a 2007 graduate of the University of Washington Natural Science Illustration Certificate Program.  She studied drawing and painting at the Art Institute of Boston, and the Universities of Minnesota and North Dakota.  Her illustration and art education clients have included the Evergreen State College, the Marshall Islands Ministry of Health, Indian Health Service/Alaska Native Health Board, and Alaska Office of Energy Programs in the Division of  Community and Regional Affairs.  Her work has been exhibited at the Burke Museum, Seattle; The Art Institute of Boston Symphony Hall Exhibition, Boston, MA; and The Women's Art Registry of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Sue's work can be viewed at www.botanyandbones.com.
