Lisa Valore rounded out an education in design at the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio (BFA with honors in 1978) with three years of practical experience with the professional design process as an architectural publication designer and interior designer. A major role was color selection for architectural interiors. She also participated in presentations, built models, and traveled to several project sites in remote Alaska villages.
In 1982 she established a design and illustration studio. Lisa A.Valore, Art • Design produced over 200 creative design solutions for many organizations and businesses. The projects covered the full scope of print reproduction. She is well versed in digital processes for publication layout, illustration, and typesetting, as well as scanning and preparation of art for publication and web uses.
Her best-known works are a Raven paper sculpture for a telephone book competition, and a commission; the design of the Hudson Stuck stain glass window at the historical St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Fairbanks. In 1989 she was the 6th Alaska artist whose work was selected for the popular Alaska One Public Television Poster. Her favorite projects are the production of William D. Berry, 1954 –1956 Alaskan Field Sketches and 4 illustrations for interpretive display panels at the Arctic Circle Wayside on the Dalton Highway. She served for many years on the Visual Arts Committee of the Fairbanks Arts Association, on the Board of Directors of Vanessapress, and was a member of the Alaska Watercolor Society.
She has exhibited in juried shows in Washington, Pennsylvania, and Alaska since 1986. Her work has received first place awards in drawing, watercolor painting, and publication design. She also has several awards in each category of gouache painting, bead weaving, illustration and graphic design. She and her family have happily lived in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle since 1994, where they greatly enjoy the rich art heritage of the region, and close proximity to lakes and mountains.
