Natasha Terry

Natasha Terry is a multidisciplinary artist in Seattle with an education in contemplative psychology, teaching, and interdisciplinary arts. A recipient of the ArtsWA Veterans SAP grant, she served as a medic in the Air Force and now dedicates her life to art full time. As a fourth-generation mixed-race artist, she works to integrate the ancestral complexities of her Mexican and European sides. By learning history, she is able to make intentional choices about living and bring an earth-based perspective back to the broken lines she inherited. 

Passionate about emphasizing our interconnectivity with nature, she spends ample time in contact with flora, fauna, and the elements to imbue her art with genuine relationality. Natasha engages the intelligent diversities of nature by approaching art as a conversation with the wild. Often before beginning a piece, she holds its bare materials in her hands and waits for an image to arise. From there she collects and makes references to support the image’s creation.

Natasha has a Visual Arts Certificate from Naropa University and an MFAIA with a Decolonial Art Praxis from Goddard College. She visits Mexico each year to strengthen ancestral roots, improve Spanish fluency, and cultivate meaningful community. As an arts educator and mentor, she weaves existential and sociopolitical themes into her pedagogy–focusing on why the arts matter and how to sustain a holistic practice.
