Guild of Natural Science Illustrators Northwest

Helen White

I have studied and loved art and science all my life. I have a degree in Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) but I have been exploring the world of art though a variety of workshops over the years. In 2008 /2009 I studied Nature Science Illustration at the University of Washington and wished I had discovered it sooner.
I live in Seattle but also spend time every year in Sweden and visit my homeland, Australia when possible. This is reflected in my illustrations.
I developed an interest in mycology and anticipate illustrating fungi, as well as depicting other fauna and flora of the world.
I also loved doing the anatomical reconstruction and look for opportunities to do more of this.
I primarily use watercolor, color pencil, graphite and pen and ink in my illustrations.
