Emily M. Eng
Emily M. Eng is a freelance illustrator based in Kirkland. She enjoys working in traditional media like watercolors, graphite and colored pencils, as well as digitally in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop and Procreate. She finds inspiration in the natural and scientific world with a focus on being representative of real life. She loves the challenge of visually explaining complex concepts and communicating science. Often her imagery revolves around her previous work as a marine naturalist and educator.
As a Bellevue native, Emily headed south to school to study biology, environmental studies, studio art, and religious studies at Santa Clara University and then science illustration at California State University, Monterey Bay’s graduate program. With over 10 years freelancing, Emily brings expertise and experience to any project. She especially likes working side-by-side with clients to bring ideas into reality.
Emily has exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the U.S. and Europe. Several clients include: The Seattle Times, National Geographic, University of Washington, University of Southern California, Stanford University, Coral Reef Alliance, City of Kirkland, Nature Conservancy of Canada, and other nature nonprofits, organizations and publications.
