Sharon Birzer

Sharon Birzer is a Natural Science Illustrator and painter whose art work is inspired by observations made in the diverse ecosystems of Puget Sound, Eastern Washington, and Southern Africa. She is currently working with Curators at the Burke Museum of Natural History on arachnid illustrations for a publication.

Working directly with curators at the Seattle Art Museum she created illustrations and custom maps that are permanently part of the Museumʼs signage. Her illustrations have been included in books and publications. Her art work has been exhibited throughout the Northwest and around the country. She is currently a member of SHIFT Collaborative Studio, a Seattle artist-run exhibition space in the Tashiro Kaplan Arts Complex. Birzer holds a BFA from Cornish College of the Arts and an MFA from the University of Washington, and completed the Natural Science Illustration Program at the UW.
