Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery announces their 4th Annual “Nature” Online Juried Art Competition for the month of October 2014. 2D and 3D artists from around the world are called upon to make online submissions for possible inclusion into the Gallery’s November 2014 online group art exhibition. The gallery encourages entries from artists (including photography), regardless of where they reside to apply to this competition by submitting their nature themed art.
The “Nature” theme will be the artist’s interpretation and depiction of the physical world and is considered to be anything that was not created by or has been substantially altered by man. Subjects that would encompass the “Nature” theme would include geographical subjects, natural objects, wildlife and natural environments.

We have exciting opportunities for anyone wanting to draw on exhibit at the Burke Museum. The Burke would like have Natural Science artists come along during their Bug Blast, Birds at the Burke and Meet the Mammals days. The Museum will supply paper and tables and you bring your own drawing supplies. If you have special materials you may want to bring those supplies in addition. We will set up an art station for the public to try their hand at drawing using both Burke supplied materials, and materials that are not so familiar such as carbon dust or scratch board.
· Lunch will be provided free to all participants with homemade soup, salad and sandwiches provided by the Burke.
· Free parking
· You may bring your framed art to show as examples (provide your own tabletop or floor easels).
If you are interested in this opportunity please respond at least two weeks before the activity dates so that we can work out stations, set up and request specimens from the Burke. The plan is to have two groups of artists, the first group to cover the 10am to 1pm time slot, and the second group to cover the 1pm through 4pm time slot. The Seymour Botanical Conservatory at Wright Park is one of Tacoma’s iconic landmarks – and this September it will be the scene of a unique exhibition: “Ethnobotany: An Artists’ Study of Plants”.
Twelve featured artists in the Conservatory will venture into the world of ethnobotany through recycled material, wood, textiles, glass, metal and ceramics. Ethnobotany is the study of the relationships that have existed between primitive cultures and plants across time and throughout the world. The plant kingdom supports human life as a source of food, medicine, textiles, shelter, transportation, currency, and more. It is also a source of inspiration and ritual. In this show, artists explore ethnobotany through works that make often surprising connections between contemporary circumstances, art, botanical life and science.
