Some of the species are familiar and favorite local inhabitants, while others represent more obscure forms of life, be it a oreodont - a prehistoric ruminating pig-like creature from the region or a deep-sea tubeworm that lives in the harsh environment around deep-sea hydrothermal vents in the Pacific Ocean. |
