It's been a challenge for many of us to emerge from our COVID cocoons, but we finally held some in-person meetups and events this summer! Members chatted and sketched outdoors together, volunteered at DinoFest with the Burke Museum, and also met virtually to catch-up and talk about upcoming opportunities. We will hold more in-person and as well as virtual meetups for members soon!

Clymer Museum and Gallery <clymermuseum.com>
416 North Pearl Street, Ellensburg, WA

Exhibit by artists of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators Northwest
Opening on First Friday, May 6 2016, 5 to 7 pm
The exhibit will run from May 6 through June 25 2016

In Nature’s Call, members of the GNSI-NW present a survey of work inspired by the wildlife and natural history of the Northwest. Some of the species are familiar and favorite local inhabitants, while others represent more obscure forms of life, be it a oreodont - a prehistoric ruminating pig-like creature from the region or a deep-sea tubeworm that lives in the harsh environment around deep-sea hydrothermal vents in the Pacific Ocean.

Volunteer Call - Burke Dino Day - March 12 2016

2/22/2016

Hello members,

Thank you Rachael, Cyndi, and Katherine for helping out at "Archaeology Day" at the
Burke museum this past Saturday!
We all had fun drawing intriguing and even mysterious artifacts. We also enjoyed
discussing scientific illustration with curious adults and encouraging children to
express their talent while drawing or coloring specimens of arrow heads.

"Dino Day" is coming fast on the tail of Archaeology Day! On Saturday - March 12, 2016
If you love dinosaurs or are curious about paleo and fossil digs all over the world, I
encourage you to join us on that day. It is the most popular family event at the museum
every year. Lots of fun and learning!

Rachael and I will tend a "Science Illustrators at Work!" area but we still need a couple
more volunteers to make this day a success!
http://www.burkemuseum.org/calendar/dino-day
Ideally, we need one more volunteer for the morning (10am-1pm) and another for the afternoon
(1-4pm).

Thank you for considering this opportunity. I look forward to hearing back from you very soon.

Véronique
